SUBJECT:
Contract Amendment for Street Sweeping Services
RECOMMENDED ACTION
It is recommended that the City Council authorize the City Manager to approve an amendment of $357,585 to the existing contract with Guardian Street Sweeping for a revised not-to-exceed amount of $1,072,755 for street sweeping services and to approve a one-year contract extension for street sweeping.
BACKGROUND
Street sweeping services are provided to eliminate trash/debris on City of Hesperia (City) streets and to minimize trash/debris from entering the storm drain system. Street sweeping services are performed on a weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly schedule at various locations which include Main Street, Bear Valley Road, I Avenue, E Avenue, Hesperia Road, City facilities, housing tracts, and schools with curb and gutter. In addition, bike lanes throughout the city are swept on a quarterly schedule.
ISSUES/ANALYSIS
The current contract with Guardian Street Sweeping expires June 30, 2024, and a contract extension is needed to continue to provide street sweeping services. City staff recommends extending the contract for an additional year. Additionally, the vendor has agreed to hold the current contact pricing for one more year through June 30, 2025.
