SUBJECT:
G & M Automotive Center, Inc. Contract Amendment
RECOMMENDED ACTION
It is recommended that the City Council and Board of Directors of the Hesperia Water District authorize the City Manager to approve a one-year contract extension for vehicle maintenance and repairs with G & M Automotive Center and increase the contract in the amount of $300,000 for a new, not-to-exceed amount of $875,000 for vehicle maintenance and repairs.
BACKGROUND
Preventative and corrective maintenance that is required for the City are seventy-six (76) light-duty vehicles, and thirty-four (34) super-duty and heavier on-road vehicles and equipment. Preventative maintenance improves fleet productivity, manages vehicle wear, and ultimately reduces repair costs.
ISSUES/ANALYSIS
Public Works requested bids for Fiscal Year 2022-23 from local vendors located in the High Desert that could provide maintenance services. The vehicle fleet’s three categories were solicited on three separate requests for bids (RFB’s) to include as many potential bidders as possible. G & M Automotive Center, Inc., located in Hesperia, was deemed the lowest responsible, responsive bidder in each section. City staff recommends extending the agreement for an additional year and G & M has agreed to hold the current contract pricing for one more year through June 30, 2025.
