SUBJECT:
Award Weed Abatement Contract – Rob’s Weed and Pest Control
RECOMMENDED ACTION
It is recommended that the City Council authorize the City Manager to execute a three (3) year contract to the lowest responsive/responsible bidder, Rob’s Weed and Pest Control, for weed abatement services, in the amount of $107,470, with a 10% contingency of $10,747, for a contract authority in the not-to-exceed amount of $118,217.
BACKGROUND
The Public Works Traffic Division manages the weed abatement contract within the City to minimize weed growth along local roadways, not only for aesthetic reasons but also to prevent fires when weeds dry out.
ISSUES/ANALYSIS
With the current contract for weed abatement expiring on June 30, 2024, bids were solicited for a new three (3) year contract. Two (2) bids were received, with Rob’s Weed and Pest Control providing a complete bid and being deemed the lowest responsive/responsible bidder with a total bid amount of $107,470. With the probability of adding additional areas as they are developed or as additional weed abatement services are requested, staff is requesting a 10% contingency in the amount of $10,747 be included in the contract.
