SUBJECT:
Public Works Asset Management Software (Cityworks)
RECOMMENDED ACTION
It is recommended that the City Council and Board of Directors of the Hesperia Water District (District) authorize the City Manager to enter into a two-year software license and maintenance agreement with Azteca Systems, Inc. in a not-to-exceed amount of $121,700.
BACKGROUND
In 2007, the City transitioned its asset management program to the Cityworks platform. An asset management program is a vital component to tracking life cycle cost of infrastructure maintained by the Public Works department. Cityworks is a geographical information systems (GIS) based program, allowing staff accessibility to critical asset information in a remote environment. Furthermore, an asset management program helps with identifying future capital improvement projects.
ISSUES/ANALYSIS
Since the initial installation of Cityworks, the City has continued to maintain the software license and maintenance agreement with Azteca Systems, Inc. The current agreement will be replaced with a new agreement to add an additional (10) licenses, allowing for fifty-five (55) staff members to use the program. The additional licenses will allow for Utility Billing staff to access work orders completed by field staff. Included in the agreement is the annual maintenance, software updates, and customer support.
