SUBJECT:
American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) Manhole Repair – Lid Replacement Project
RECOMMENDED ACTION
It is recommended that the City Council and Board of Directors of the Hesperia Water District authorize the City Manager to enter into an agreement with Creative Home/DBA:CHI Construction for the Manhole Repair – Lid Replacement project, for the bid amount of $1,312,500, plus a 10% contingency for a not-to-exceed total of $1,443,750.
BACKGROUND
Based on recent storm events, City staff has discovered that the stormwater runoff has been entering the City owned sewer manholes throughout the city, causing corrosion and other damages to the manholes. In addition, the water entering the manholes puts a strain on the wastewater treatment plants downstream due to the large influx of water. This influx also adds costs to the residents for treatment of this water. This project will replace the manhole lids with a new design that will deter water from entering the manholes, therefore preserving the integrity of the infrastructure locally and regionally. This project will utilize American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding.
