DATE: February 18, 2025
TO: Mayor and Council Members
Chair and Board Members, Hesperia Water District

FROM: Rachel Molina, City Manager
BY: Cassandra Sanchez, Public Works Director/City Engineer Wade Pieper, Public Works Inspector

SUBJECT: Acceptance of I-15 Lift Station Completion

RECOMMENDED ACTION

It is recommended that the City Council and Board of Directors of the Hesperia Water District approve the completion and operational acceptance of the I-15 Corridor Sewer Lift Station. The Lift Station is fully operational, and all construction work has been completed. The facility is now under a one-year warranty.

BACKGROUND

In November 2004, the city annexed the freeway corridor south from Highway 395 to the Oak Hills Summit. As a part of the annexation agreement the city was required to construct the water and sewer infrastructure, which has been completed in phases. Phase One included the installation of the water and sewer mains along Mariposa Rd and Caliente Rd and was completed in 2022. The current phase, Phase Two, included the construction of the I-15 Sewer Lift Station located at the Union Pacific underpass at Caliente Rd which has now been completed.

The completion Phase Two not only supports new development , but also enables existing businesses within the corridor to connect to the sewer infrastructure, transitioning from septic to municipal services
.

ISSUES/ANALYSIS

The I-15 sewer lift station is fully constructed and operational. The Lift Station has enabled the conveyance of wastewater flows from the I -15 Corridor area, facilitating the opening of new businesses, such as McDonald's, and allowing other development projects to progress to the next construction phases.
