Extension of Midwest Veterinary Supplies Contract
RECOMMENDED ACTION
It is recommended that the City Council authorize the City Manager to approve an amendment to the existing contract with Midwest Veterinary Supplies in the amount of $130,000, for a total not-to-exceed revised amount of $282,000, and approve a one-year contract extension for medical supplies and kennel supplies.
BACKGROUND
Midwest Veterinary Supplies provides items vital to the health and well-being of the animals and overall betterment of the community. Hesperia Animal Shelter purchases include, but are not limited to, vaccines, medications, pain medications, controlled substances, medicated shampoos, formula, leashes, and carriers. Additional items such as equipment, autoclave, tables, tubes, tools, and supplies for sterility surgeries and wound care are also provided by this vendor.
ISSUES/ANALYSIS
The current contract with Midwest Veterinary Supplies expired June 30, 2025, and a contract extension is needed to continue to provide medical and kennel supplies. City staff recommends extending the contract for an additional year. Additionally, the vendor has agreed to hold the current contract pricing for one more year through June 30, 2026.
