RECOMMENDED ACTION
It is recommended that the City Council discuss and provide staff direction regarding a donation of funds to a local food bank(s).
BACKGROUND
During the November 4, 2025, City Council meeting, Council Member Chris Ochoa requested that this item be placed on the agenda.
ISSUES/ANALYSIS
Council Member Ochoa has requested that the City Council discuss a $10,000 donation of funds to a local food bank(s) to assist with their efforts in providing resources to individuals and families during the upcoming holiday season. Staff compiled a list of non-profit organizations in Hesperia that address food insecurity.
New Life Chapel Food Ministry
Restore Unity
Holy Family Food Pantry
High Desert Second Chance Food Bank
Of these organizations, both New Life Chapel Food Ministry and Restore Unity received funding this fiscal year under the Community Assistance Program (CAP).

Public Safety – Ensure public safety resources adequately protect our community.
FISCAL IMPACT
Should the City Council approve this donation of $10,000, a budget amendment will be included with the Mid-Year Report in February 2026.
