Acceptance of the Maple Avenue Sewer Line Replacement, C.O. No. 9018
RECOMMENDED ACTION
It is recommended that the City Council and Board of Directors of the Hesperia Water District:
Accept the completed Maple Sewer Line Replacement project, Construction Order No. (C.O.) 9018; Authorize staff to record a Notice of Completion; and
Authorize the release of all withheld retention amounts no sooner than thirty (30) calendar days following the date of recordation.
BACKGROUND
On May 20, 2025, the City Council awarded the Maple Avenue Sewer Line Replacement (Project) construction contract to CEM Construction in the amount of $1,497,320, including contingency.
The Project consisted of replacing approximately 0.5 miles of 12-inch sewer trunk line within Maple Avenue between Sultana Street and Yucca Street, as well as the reconnection of existing sewer laterals to the new sewer main and abandonment of the existing sewer line. The existing sewer line exhibited sagging in several areas, resulting in reduced gravity flow, the accumulation of water and solids within the line, and diminished system capacity.
ISSUES/ANALYSIS
Construction is complete, and the project is ready for acceptance with a total expenditure amount of $1,489,660. Upon acceptance of the Project, a Notice of Completion will be recorded, and the retention held by the City will be released after a minimum of thirty (30) days from the date of recordation. Upon City Council acceptance, the project will be under a one-year warranty.
