Mayor McCorkindale asked if there were any comments received by email.
City Manager Kallman stated that there was one from resident Nathalie Blossom Levy:
"I cannot attend the special meeting but I support the recommendation toward holding future meetings "Hybrid" style!
In the meantime, I hope you are fully recovered from that wild and wooly Fiesta weekend!!! We all enjoyed it so much despite my 2 year old grandson falling into a complete Fiesta overload meltdown - loud and colorful! Oh well. We still had fun! Thank you for all your hard work on that. And thanks to Theresa too who always wore a smile the entire time. Ciao caras!! Nathalie"
City Attorney Diaz clarified the Council did direct us to meet in hybrid mode. That means both in person and via Zoom depending on each person's circumstances. Our neighboring cities, including the cities of Westlake Village and Agoura Hills, have all continually adopted this resolution so that we can be nimble to whatever the circumstances are.
NEW BUSINESS
Reconsideration of the Circumstances of the COVID-19 State of Emergency and Determine that the City will Continue to Hold Meetings Via Teleconferencing Pursuant to the Finding Set Forth in Government Code Section 54953(e)(3)
City Attorney Diaz presented the following report:
as set forth in the staff report, we did have a prolonged summer surge where cases were very high at one point; the County is still asking residents to follow sensible safety measures, including indoor masking as required, or as you are comfortable, and staying away from others if you are sick; including the cases while they have been on the downside, they are ratcheting up and the County is monitoring various mutations of the virus; they are concerned with the winter flu season and if there is another surge, we want to be able to be responsive to that; the State and the County continue to recommend measures to promote social distancing and also to get vaccinated as well; the recommendation is for the City council to adopt the motion stated in the staff report.
Upon MOTION of Council Member Gold, seconded by Council Member Siegel, and unanimously carried by roll call vote, 4-0-1 (Mayor Pro Tem Freedland absent), it was resolved to find that the Special City Council Minutes
