Dear Ms. Casanova:
Our Executive Director Dave Garofalo is responsible for all of our Government Relations, Entitlement and Public Policy issues for the HB Auto Dealers Assoc.
Items being discussed:
1. There are 12 New Car Dealer Members in the HB Auto Dealers Association. A copy of the dealers and their contact information is enclosed. I am involved in thee of those, HB Chrysler Dodge Ram, HB Jeep and HB Hyundai. Chrysler Corp mandated a separate building to qualify our dealership franchise area. The size of our investment resulted in the city asking for a business license for that address...yet we operate the business at a corporate level as one entity. We are a full fledged voting member at all three stores as part of the HB Auto Dealers Assoc.
2. Parking Permits. The HB Dealer Association strongly supports the continued ability to use this tool as a sales incentive.
There are 12 of us, all different management styles. Dave actively works with all of us continually providing instruction and information on the Parking Pass program and other items. While we cannot force every dealer to make available the Parking Pass on every qualifying sales or lease transaction on either New or Previously Owned vehicles, the majority of us count on this tool to attract, retain and develop new consumer opportunities.
We respectively request that the "shelf-life" of the parking Pass application once given to the customer be valid for a minimum for 45 days. Many of our stores do most of their business on weekends and not every store has their staff people who process this Parking Pass voucher work on the weekend -resulting in the certificate being mailed several days after the purchase/lease, etc. And, of course, many people are busy with other priorities and getting to their voucher for the Parking Pass once they receive it..might not be their highest priority. Forty-five day period would be reasonable.
3. Reader Board Sign ads and, compliance reporting has been going on for a period of time especially since the latest request. Dave has copied us on all city requests and our efforts to respond back with the requested information.
We are here to develop not only successful local businesses, but to be the best partner possible with the local government.
And, to that end, particularly with Dave's length of time in the community, his Maser's Degree in Public Administration and his long community experience as an advocate of sound private / public sector partnerships - we are sure he represents us at the highest possible degree of professionalism and civic pride.
Dave reports that the city's new administration has seriously re-invested in Economic Development leadership and that is a good thing for all of us.

PS: We employ over 1,000 men and women and they also buy and lease qualifying vehicles. Recently an employee with proper paper work was denied a Pass. That exemption should be removed in our opinion. 630 Main Street -Huntington Beach, Ca - 92648
