ORDINANCE NO. 4260
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH
AMENDING CHAPTER 17.56 OF THE HUNTINGTON BEACH
MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING TO THE FIRE CODE
The City Council of the City of Huntington Beach does hereby ordain as follows:
SECTION 1. Section 17.56.120 of the Huntington Beach Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
17.56.120 CFC Section 503.1.1 Buildings and facilities, Amended.
Approved fire apparatus access roads shall be provided for every building, facility or portion of a building hereafter constructed or moved into or within the jurisdiction. The fire apparatus access road shall comply with the requirements of this section and shall extend to within 150 feet (45 720 mm) of all portions of the facility and all portions of the exterior walls of the first story of the building as measured by an approved route around the exterior of the building or facility.
Exceptions:
1. The fire code official is authorized to increase the dimension up to 200 feet (60 960 mm) where all of the following conditions occur:
The building is equipped throughout with an approved automatic sprinkler system installed in accordance with Sections 903.1.1, 903.1.2 or 903.1.3.
1.2 A fire command center for Fire Department operations shall be provided and shall comply with Section 508.1.1 through 508.1.7.
1.3 Smoke detection shall comply with Section 907.2.10.7.
1.4 Additional Class I standpipe hose connections in an approved location.
1.5 A fire hydrant shall be located within 25 feet of all Fire Department connections.
1.6 The automatic sprinkler system shall be designed to one hazard FA higher than the minimum hazard occupancy defined in

SECTION 2. This ordinance shall become effective 30 days after its adoption.
