Subject: Council Meeting Item 26: City Treasurer
I agree with restoring the City Treasurer's traditional role and responsibilities under the City charter prior to the 2024 citywide election.

This coming election will be the first in City history where City Treasurer and City Clerk candidates can receive up to $5,500 from a single donor (the previous limit was $620). Based upon filings, it appears that all Treasurer and Clerk candidates combined over the last 12 years have raised just over $5K for their campaigns, so this could be a big change with unintended consequences.

Returning the City Treasurer to more of a full-time position could prevent some, but not all, problems from this change, so I applaud the Council for taking this step.
