The Greater Huntington Beach Council is alarmed at the rise of racist, hate propaganda that tarnishes the good name of our city. We the representatives of various religious communities of Huntington Beach unitedly condemn this dangerous development.
An act of hatred was perpetrated in Huntington Beach this week. Vile anti-Jewish materials were distributed at homes in the city. The Greater Huntington Beach Interfaith Council states in no uncertain terms that Hate Has No Place Here.
Our Interfaith Council was formed some 25 years ago in response to a climate of hate in the city that culminated in a vicious hate crime. Over these more than two decades, the Interfaith Council has sponsored many events and programs promoting understanding between people of many faiths and working toward harmony for the entire community.
We call upon all persons of goodwill to join us in condemning this hateful act, and all similar hurtful behaviors. Let us work together to create the society of which the prophet Isaiah spoke, where all people will sit under their vines and fig trees and no one will make them afraid.
