A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF HUNTINGTON BEACH ESTABLISHING AND APPOINTING
A CITY HISTORIAN AND CITY ARCHIVIST
WHEREAS, the citizens of the City of Huntington Beachcan benefit from knowledge of the history of the City; and
The collection, management and maintenance of original and reprinted historical photography, documents, maps, books and relatedpublications will assistthe public, media and government bodies in historical research; and
The City Council wishes to establishthe non-paid, voluntary positions of City Historian andCity Archivist to provideasourceto thoseseekinghistoricalinformationabouttheCity of Huntington Beach,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVEDby theCity Councilof theCity of Huntington Beachthatthenon-paid, voluntarypositionsof City HistorianandCity Archivistsarehereby established.
BE IT FURTHERRESOLVEDthatthepositionsof City HistorianandCity Archivist shallbefor a four-yearterm, renewablewith City Councilapproval, andbeunderthegeneral supervision of the City Clerk, who shall establish criteria for the review and selection of those to be recommendedto City Council for approval.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk is authorized to appropriate and administer annual funds to supportthe City Historian and City Archivist to research, storeand reproduce historical records and documents.
BE IT FURTHERRESOLVEDthatJerryPersonis appointedasCity Historianfor a four-year term commencing August 20, 2007 to August 20, 2011, and, that Joel Watkins is appointed asCity Archivist for a four-year term commencing August 20, 2007 to August 20, 2011.
