BACKGROUND
April 2, 2024 City Council adopted Resolution No. 2024-10 Weeds, rubbish, and refuse upon certain private properties in the City were declared a nuisance Affected properties were identified through document research and field inspections
PROGRAM TIMELINE
April 3 – 24, 2024: Affected private properties were posted with the Notice to Destroy Weeds and Remove Rubbish and Refuse Letters were mailed to off-site private property owners advising on Public Hearing and annual weed abatement efforts
PROGRAM TIMELINE
May 7, 2024: Public Hearing for objections at City Council meeting May 20, 2024: Deadline for private property owners to clear properties by own means May 24 – June 7, 2024: Abatement of all properties not cleared by owner
PROGRAM TIMELINE
4 private properties were cleared and the total cost is $2,170.48 July 19, 2024: Cost per parcel was posted on Council Bulletin Board August 6, 2024: City Council is requested to certify clearing costs for inclusion on County 2024-2025 Tax Roll as a one-time special assessment per parcel
RECOMMENDATION
Recommend the City Council:
Adopt Resolution 2024-36
Direct all charges listed thereon be certified to the Orange County 2024/25 Property Tax Roll
