Summary of Action or Discussion: The meeting was held at Central Library due to construction in Council Chambers.
ADMINISTRATIVE ITEM: The Commission took action on the naming of an area within Huntington Central Park East
referred to as the Nature Plateau. The Commission's Park Naming & Memorials Committee met on 2 occasions to
review criteria, hear from the public and evaluate the
information received from a public survey on suggestions names for the area. The survey presented an overwhelming desire from the public to maintain the referred to name. The Committee forwarded the recommendation of naming the
area, "The Nature Plateau", of which, Commission was in agreement and the item passed 6-0-1. INFORMATIONAL
ITEMS: Staff reported on the approved FY 2024/25 CIP
budgeted projects, announced that LeBard Park should
reopen in mid-September, and the Carr Park conceptual
design had been approved by City Council. Commissioners were informed on upcoming events. Staff reported that
Huntington Central Library was selected for the 3rd year in a row as "OC's Best Storytime in Orange County". Additionally, there is a new "Laptop Anytime" kiosk at Central Library.
