Huntington Beach, CA 92648
Dear Mayor Burns and Members of the Huntington Beach City Council, I am writing in strong support of Pathways to Independence and their recent grant application to the City of Huntington Beach through the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program.

For over three decades, Pathways to Independence has been a vital force in Orange County, empowering single young women who have faced significant adversity and are working to build stable, successful futures. The organization’s proven track record of supporting clients through higher education, professional development, and trauma-informed services speaks to the transformative impact of its mission.

As the proud representative in the California State Senate of Huntington Beach, I am especially encouraged by the presence of three residential buildings operated by Pathways right here in our city. These safe and stable housing options are critical to the success of the young women they serve — and to the long-term strength and stability of our community as a whole.

Supporting Pathways to Independence through the CDBG program is an investment in people, in potential, and in a stronger Huntington Beach. I respectfully urge your full consideration of their application and applaud your ongoing commitment to initiatives that create lasting, positive change.

Sincerely,
Tony Strickland
