I am writing to express my strong support for Agenda Item 25-687, which concerns the implementation of Measure A as approved by the voters in March 2024.
Approving the actions outlined in this agenda item is a crucial and responsible step.
The voters of Huntington Beach approved Measure A to enhance election integrity in our municipal elections. Moving forward with the recommendations in this agenda item, which includes hiring an elections consultant and drafting a voter ID ordinance, demonstrates respect for our constituents and their democratic decision.
As a charter city, Huntington Beach has the authority to manage its own municipal affairs. By continuing with our implementation planning, we can prudently prepare for legal challenges while exercising our local governance. Furthermore, this agenda item rightly calls for planning for additional accessible polling locations, reinforcing the city's commitment to ensuring the voting process is both secure and accessible for all qualified voters.
