ISSUE STATEMENT
Sugar is a six-time winner of the Surf City Dog Championship, five-time World Dog Surf Champion with 21 first place trophies and 34 trophies overall, three -time Purina Pro Plan Incredible Dog Challenge, trophy holder for the Malibu Classic and Santa Cruz Longboard Union Contest, and four-time Helen Woodward Animal Hospital Dog-a-Thon Champ!! Sugar was inducted into the Surfers’ Hall of Fame on December 5, 2024.
A beloved member of the HB community, Sugar will always be in the lineup and in our hearts.
RECOMMENDED ACTION
Direct staff to return with a resolution declaring each December 5th as Sugar the Surfing Dog Day.
