Once again the State of California, has chosen to proclaim an un-funded edict on the cities & counties of this state, further burdening the citizens.
These requirements for green bins, where not much "green" exists for HOA situations -where the landscaping company hauls cuttings away, is a complete waste of funds for the cities and the residents - particularly the residents, as we pay on all sides of the spectrum!
The cost over the next three years is bad enough, but compounding the CPUI for an additional three years, and most likely into infinity, will be prohibitive to say the least!
Just in case: This is a definite protest AGAINST additional fees for waste & mbbish collection.

RE HB Trash Collection Practice and Rate Increase
Howdy, ^
I am writing to protest upcoming changes to our trash collection practice and rate. I am a long-time resident and homeowner in Huntington Beach, and a 71-year-old (72 next month!) service-connected disabled veteran.
Practice
I've heard that it is about to become a requirement that we separate our food waste from our other trash and add it to our green trash can, driven by a California senate bill for food recycling. The hardships this would cause for us include:
• Having to add a new storage container in our kitchen to accumulate it for daily disposal, • Depositing it in our green trash can, which our gardeners won't use for a full week (our gardeners come the day before trash collection, and we can't keep the food scraps in our kitchen— not even in our refrigerator for a week while we wait for them to come), • Horrible smells in our kitchen and green trash can (I have a very sensitive nose and strong gag reflex) • Having to wash the storage container
• Having to wash our green trash can
• There's no way this can be considered sanitary— food waste in the bottom of our green trash can for a week!

Rate Increase
In addition, I heard that an initial monthly rate increase of $7.58 will take effect in July with annual increases thereafter. Again/1 am a military-connected disabled veteran living on social security. I do not want to pay an increased trash collection rate— especially not for a new practice that I strongly do not want.

My wife and I (Jeanne Paris and Stephen Quinn) have resided at 1304 Lakeside Lane Huntington Beach 92648 for 30 years. We moved to Huntington Beach from Playa Del Rey (City of LA) to escape precisely the sort of fanatical, all-consuming government overreach that this new trash collection folly represents. This is not Santa Monica or Long Beach, where people are the servile subjects of their out of control city leadership. We are free people.
It is with the utmost revulsion that I (we) reject this climate hysteria-driven overreach that our overseers in Sacramento wish to impose on us.

Subject: Protest-City of Huntington Beach Residential Trash Collection Rate Increase Dear City Clerk, I am writing to formally protest the proposed increase in the residential trash collection rate. I understand that this rate hike is being attributed to increased landfill costs and compliance with state mandates requiring food waste recycling. However, the burden being placed on residents is significant, particularly given the expectation that households will now separate and manage food waste in addition to existing recycling requirements. This added responsibility, combined with rising costs, raises concerns about both practicality and fairness.
The proposed increase from $29.06 to $36.64 per month, along with planned future increases, represents a substantial financial impact on residents. While I recognize that there are real cost pressures, I believe the City should explore alternative solutions, cost controls, or implementation strategies that do not disproportionately affect households.
For these reasons, I respectfully submit my formal protest against the proposed residential trash collection rate increase.
