Background
• The Fire Department applied for and was awarded the FY 2025 Assistance to Firefighters Grant • The grant award of $294,621.09 will fund 10 automatic chest compression devices • A matching amount of $29,462.11 (10%) will be funded within the available current Fire Department budget
• The devices will be placed in each of the Department’s 8 frontline ambulances and 2 surge ambulances • They will be deployed on cardiac arrest responses and any resuscitation requiring patient movement or transport
• Over the past year, the Department provide 1,865 responses requiring resuscitation • Acceptance of the grant award enhances the Fire Department’s overall effectiveness on emergency medical service responses and brings the Department into compliance with Orange County Emergency Medical Services standards for advance life support equipment Recommendation
Approve and accept the FY 2025 Assistance to Firefighters Grant awarded to the City of Huntington Beach
Authorize the Fire Chief and Chief Financial Officer as the officials to execute and sign the FY 2025 Assistance to Firefighters Grant award, agreement, amendments, and extensions
Approve the appropriation of grant revenues and expenditures in the amount of $324,083.20
