SUBJECT: DISCUSSION/ACTION: Appoimmi:nt or Imperial Valley Telecommunications Authority Represe111a1ive and alternate.
DEPARTMENT INVOLVED:
City Manager
BACKGROUND/SUMMARY:
Imperial Valley Telecommunications Authority ("IVT A") is a joint powers authority ("JPA") made up of local cities, the county, IID, hospitals, school districts and special districts. The JPA calls for each member to annually designate a representative, an alternate, business contact, technology contact and facilities contact. Historically, it appears that the representative for the City of Imperial has been the City Manager with our IT Director as alternate. The IT Director has attended the monthly meetings. The staff recommendation is to continue the existing appointment of City Manager as the primary contact and IT Director as Alternate Contact and include the appointment on the list for council confirmation on an annual basis. Staff also recommends that you allow the City Manager to appoint the business, technology and facilities contacts.
