Appoint a City of Imperial member to the initial board of the Imperial Valley Healthcare District.
BACKGROUND/SUMMARY:
Assembly Bill 918 was approved by the Governor on October 8, 2023. It forms a new entity designated as the Imperial Valley Healthcare District. Among other things, the bill calls for creation of an initial board of directors and provides for one appointment to be " ... from the City of Imperial and appointed by the City of Imperial." The deadline for the council appointment is December 7, 2023. The person appointed ' ... cannot be current or former employees of the El Centro Regional Medical Center, the Pioneers Memorial Hospital, or Pioneers Memorial Healthcare District." City appointments to its boards/commissions typically require that the appointee be a qualified voter of the City of Imperial. If a timely appointment is not made, the appointment defaults to the Imperial County Board of Supervisors.
As of the time of this staff report, no applications have been received.
