1. I am in favor of working with the US EPA to solve the sewage crisis.

2. The claim that Democratics received dark money is false. There are approximately 2,400 union members in IB. These union members designate money through a rigorous process to be given to prospective electees.

3. Sandcastle. The event coordinator for Sandcastle has not met the criteria for holding the event.

Mr. Tyler Foltz, City Manager
Mayor Paloma Aguirre
City Council Members
Dear Mr.; Foltz, May and City Council Members:

Sorry for the late response to the upcoming City Council Meeting January 17th. I've been helping a friend whose family member passed away just before Christmas, un-mucking his home, in my spare time. As Mr. Foltz email suggested that all is coming together for the benefit of our City, and I trust that all will be ok.. Just as an insurance policy I submit this for your review.

Looks like we have a partial win... annoying buses proposed to be off Third St. Hurray Thanks for all the good work and supporting me in my effort to protect our properties. (Ha, I only was worried about "my'' property to start with) I am very glad that I have met some great friends and neighbors over this mess and with your efforts and letters it has worked. Yes, this includes the folks at MTS and the City of Imperial Beach. It is very hard to have your “pet” project be revised and possibly eliminated for the betterment of our city and the taxpayers.

Not a done deal with the bus.

Are the proposed bus shelters still to be installed at 3rd and I.B. Blvd. with flashing lights and also shelters for others throughout the city?
And where are they to be installed? Is this really needed? (As a free cell phone can be obtained from the parking lot of the Iris Station that would eliminate the cost to the taxpayers and make Imperial Beach cleaner and less congested for the flashing lights aka: information board.

Just how long do the buses get to stay in front of the "Brig" and how often? Can we move the bus stop to the corner of Elm going North on Seacoast? Helping the business (yes more tax
dollars to the city, which is really minor compared to the fellowship of our citizens that the business enjoys) as most paying customers are NOT bus aficionados and those that are, and willing to spend money in our town, would not mind the walk from one corner to the next.

Can we move the bus stop back to the corner of 3rd. St and I.B. Blvd where it originated; that I have blocked with trees for years. We do not need a grandeur’s habitat for the few folks using the bus, at the corner of Third St. and I. B. Blvd. especially 310 IB Blvd. which has no buffer for the annoying bus traffic. Plus please put back my two parking spots in front of the house. I have been harmed by this move by MTS. My tenants cannot park in front of their home.

When you go home tonight DO NOT PARK IN FRONT OF YOUR HOME! My tenants cannot. Why should you?
On the ballot for the next election a 1/2 cent sales tax on all goods purchased in San Diego County to pay for transit. Yep! This includes bus Route 227 that has no riders and must be included in the "need" for more of your tax dollars to MTS or they would have eliminated it as it has to cost them! Or you the taxpayer.

We have asked what the cost per rider is to run Route 227 through Imperial Beach. Will MTS be willing to provide us citizens with that figure on January 17th . Even though MTS and the City moves the Route 227 to 9th
Street with very, very few riders, is this cost effective for us, along with adding more signs, hostile architecture for covered shelters and blight just junking up our town for a very, very few riders.

And at what cost?
Again, I thank you for all of your support and wish all a much better New Year and let’s get together to acheive the USA hitting on all cylinders again.

Dave Nearing

I appreciate the responsiveness of the City and MTS to the concerns expressed by the residents on 3rd St. However, any decision to modify the route should also take into consideration the following:

The ridership impacts, if any, of eliminating the two stops on IB Blvd. The 8th St. stop in particular, serves several locations that are frequented by those without automobile access; the high school, senior center, library, municipal complex, etc. These locations should also be consulted as part of the outreach process;
The report states that there will be no new stops, but doesn't indicate if the rerouted 227 will stop at any of the existing stops on 9th Ave. or Palm Ave;
The report states that there will be no impacts to parking but does not mention any potential impacts on automobile traffic, pedestrians and bicyclists on 9th or Palm Aves. I can envision certain movements being impeded (i.e., left turns out of the Breakwater parking lot.) Thank you for your consideration.

Respectfully,
Sandy Brillhart
