I object to the appointment of Mitch McKay as mayor.

In the future, I want the public to have a say in the next council member, I want the position to be advertised, I want to submit candidates questions & I want to have to have public interviews. I think that you could accomplish these things if you utilized the full 60 days.

Sincerely,
Thora Wolfe

Mayor and City council,
I was disappointed at how you bypassed all of us and elected among yourselves our next mayor without giving the opportunity to other qualified IB citizens. I’m sure Mayor McKay will do a good job since it’s in his best interest to do so, but please let the vacancy that he will create be elected with more transparency, there are other local citizens in D3 that would be interested and you don’t need a special election just public interviews. We all should be an example of how we can get along and stop the divisive atmosphere that we live in. It’s a small town and we want all the business and inhabitants to prosper.

Dear City Council,
I am Toni Trinidad, a homeowner and resident in district 3 with great concerns about the PROCESS you have followed for appointing the mayoral position.

Council had MANY options to include the voice of the people in the appointment of the open seat for Mayor. Moreover, you had a full 60 days for careful review and thoughtful consideration. You did neither.

You have GREATLY reduced citizens' trust by brokering a backroom deal and appointing a new mayor within mere minutes of announcing it. Your PROCESS sets a poor precedent that I (and many other IB voters) do not want to see followed for future appointments.

Jack Fisher was right when he said "you won't like it", but he was dead wrong when he said we will "get over it." We, and especially the voters in D2, will not forget and will not get over how you commandeered this appointment without ANY community input.

As a result I am OPPOSED to the swearing in and oath of office that you have scheduled in agenda item 11a in today's council meeting. This is not about the person chosen, but about the anti-democratic process you have followed for this appointment.

With Great Concern,
Toni Trinidad
D3 Resident

Regarding the project for El Tapatio Catering. I am in favor of this project for the following reasons, The ownership of El Tapatio have been great stewarts of the corner of 3rd and palm. I am their next door neighbor to the project site and look forward to the improvements. The design is an upgrade for the area and with the success of their business they need more space, Please vote yes to their project.
