1.CONVENE THE CITY COUNCIL AND DESERT RECREATION DISTRICT JOINT
WORKSHOP AND ROLL CALL
At 6:00 p.m., Mayor Reed Convened the City Council and Desert Recreation District for a joint workshop.
Present: Mayor Dana Reed, Mayor Pro Tem Donna Griffith, Council Member Greg Sanders
2.CITY COUNCIL, DESERT RECREATION DISTRICT WELCOME AND
PRESENTATIONS
Mayor Reed welcomed the Community to the joint workshop and introduced District President Rudy Acosta. Mayor Pro Tem Griffith provided an overview of the development and discussion of a community park.
3.PUBLIC COMMENTS
Mr. Doug Hanson, Mr. Joe Hammer, Mr. Martin Lax, Ms. Pat Baldmin, Ms. Rocky Randall, Ms. Kim Hammer, Mr. Bruce Underwood, Ms. Peggy Wilkinson, Mr. David Kartal, Ms. Carol Albright, Ms. Emily Nelson, Mr. Ty Peabody, residents, spoke in opposition of proposed community park. Mr. Peter Levar, resident, spoke in support of another park use rather than dog park. Mr. Bruce Whitman and Mr. Jim Thompson, residents, spoke in support of a community park use. Ms. Maureen Emswiller, resident, spoke in support of green space.
4.GENERAL BUSINESS
A.Desert Recreation District Park Discussion
Desert Recreation District General Manager clarified the community park is not a dog park and introduced Architect Chris Hermann for the interactive workshop.
5. ADJOURNMENT
At 7:02 p.m., Mayor Reed ADJOURNED the Council and Desert Recreation District Joint Workshop to a scheduled Workshop to be held on March 1, 2022, at 4:00 p.m. at the Indian Wells Golf Resort, Celebrity Ballroom.
