Subject: Petition for Reconsideration of Pickleball Courts at IWCC CAUTION: This email originated outside our organization. Be cautious with any links or attachments.
Dear Indian Wells City Council,
We, the undersigned, write to express our deep disappointment and strong objection to the City Council’s recent decision to deny Indian Wells Country Club’s application to build pickleball courts on its private property.
This decision is particularly troubling given that all necessary—and even excessive—requirements imposed by the city were fully met by IWCC. The city planner and city manager both supported the project, and a formal survey and vote of club members yielded an overwhelming majority in favor of adding the courts.
We believe this denial was not only unjustified, but also contrary to the principles of fair governance and transparent process. Therefore, we strongly encourage Indian Wells Country Club to appeal the decision—or, if necessary, pursue judicial review through legal action.
Furthermore, we fully support the club in maintaining its original proposed plan without further modification, as there is no valid reason to compromise after satisfying all requirements. Instead, we call for a closer examination and public disclosure of the practices and decision-making process undertaken by the City Council leading up to this denial. The public deserves to understand how and why a well-supported, community-enhancing project was ultimately rejected.
