RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Approve execution of agreement with Amador Water Agency for receipt of grant funds for conversion of recreational fields at Howard Park to artificial turf BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION:
Staff have been working diligently with Mr. Larry McKenney, the General Manager of the Amador Water Agency, for several months regarding the issuance of a grant to the City of Ione for funds to convert the recreational fields at Howard Park to artificial turf. Through the efforts of Mr.
McKenney, the Board of Directors of the Amador Water Agency has tentatively approved the award of One Million Dollars ($1,000,000) toward the conversion of the recreational fields at Howard Park. Conditions of the grant, as memorialized in the attached agreement, are as follows:
1. The City must commence work on the project immediately, as the reimbursement is only available through the calendar year 2025.
2. City must expend funds and request reimbursement from Amador Water Agency.
3. The City is responsible for completing the entire project by June 30, 2027.
4. Additional reimbursement may be provided to Ione above $1 million, if funds are available from Amador Water Agency's "Water Demand Offsets Fund."
5. The City will grant an easement to Amador Water Agency across Howard Park, for a new filter backwash disposal pipeline.
FISCAL IMP ACT:
Initial expenditure of up to $1 million dollars for sports field conversion to be reimbursed by Amador Water Agency.
