DENA ZEPEDA Dena Zepeda also asked about the policy, to which Director Rodriguez noted that the area surrounding the existing Picnic Shelter is a separate, but rentable, space.
FRED BARBOSA Fred Barbosa suggested sending a diagram to residents with details about the new policy and rental prices, to which Director Rodriguez advised that, if the policy is approved, staff could prepare a flyer to send out to residents and can place information on the website.
MAYOR AMBRIZ Mayor Ambriz expressed concern that City Manager Miranda would potentially be one of the three officials authorized by Council to approve rental applications and would also be the one to decide the outcome of appeals, to which Director Rodriguez advised that appeals would be addressed by the Council. She also noted that the Parks & Recreation Commission greatly prefers having three individuals review and approve rental applications.
Mayor Ambriz repeated his concern and recommended removing the City Manager from the approval process and leaving him as part of the appeal process. He then asked how City Manager Miranda would feel with this change, to which he stated that he is fine with how the policy currently reads if the City Attorney states that it is appropriate as stated. He reiterated that the Council would address appeals.
