2022 Fire Department Update- Presentation by Fire Chief Daniel Perkins Sponsor: Fire Department
Fire Chief Daniel Perkins presented his update. Year to date calls are up approximately 4% for a total of 2919 with 78% being medical and 22% fire. The Fire Department’s response times are quicker than the national average. There has been an increase in ambulance revenue. Chief Perkins discussed staff, capital improvement projects, programs, and training. Kingsburg’s ISO rating moved from 3 to 2 with 1 being the best. This is a testament to dispatching, pre-planning, equipment, staffing and the water system. Council Member Pursell, Jr. asked about payor mix- do you track how many come from FireMed? Chief Perkins said we can get a report for next time. Council discussed response time, that the data shows fire response faster than medical. Chief Perkins said it is in the issue of that data that is being pulled. They have been working on getting it corrected. Council Member Pursell, Jr. said good job on the wellness, it is really important. Mayor Pro Tem Palomar asked about the air compressor, do other communities want to fill their tanks. Chief Perkins said we don’t want to just be self sufficient, we want to be forward facing and a regional resource. Once we get tested and have the tools, we can do that and charge people for that service. Mayor Pro Tem Palomar discussed the Trunk or Treat at the park that the police and fire hosted. It was a great event.
David Silva, resident, met with Perkins several weeks back. In this presentation there are a lot of positives, he is a proponent of staffing Station 2. Thanked Council and Fire.
