Kingsburg City Council Minutes
February 21, 2024
South Kings Groundwater Sustainability Agency Joint Powers Authority (SKGSA) – They met in Sanger. One of the key takeaways is there is a mitigation measure that the state is attempting to impose when it comes to wells going dry within a GSA. The GSA then will have to remedy that.
There are still a lot of unknowns and still in their initial stage and keep an eye on it and will give reports.
Downtown Business Improvement District – Met last week, but Council Member North is absent to give a report.
Council of Governments - Council Member North is absent to give a report.
Council Member Reports – Mayor Pro Tem Palomar talked about how Kingsburg High Wrestling won two state medals. Council Member Silva wanted to welcome Interim Fire Chief John Binaski to his new role in the city.
City Manager’s Report – City Manager Henderson also mentioned that a formal introduction to Mr.
Binaski will take place in a future meeting and introduce him to the community. He also publicly thanked Fire Chief Perkins for the time he provided, and he appreciates his enthusiasm and leadership for leading that department and getting them into the spot where they are at. The other item that City Manager Henderson mentioned is the conversation he had with Housing Element consultants. We had initial direction from the HCD, the initial reviewer. The initial reviewer’s boss looked at it and has changed the formula as it relates to our housing numbers. Now we have to find a location for another 150ish units, which will prove relatively difficult with the type of vacant sites that we have available.
Future Agenda Items: None.
At 6:58 P. M. Mayor Pro Tem Palomar adjourned the meeting.
