SPECIAL MEETING 5:00 P.M.:
CALL TO ORDER: Mayor Nigsarian called the Special Meeting of the City Council of the City of La Habra to order at 5:00 p.m. in the City Council Chamber, located at 100 East La Habra Boulevard, La Habra, California.

Mayor Nigsarian announced this meeting would be live broadcasted on the City of La Habra website.
Mayor Nigsarian welcomed Community Services Commissioners Limon and Schmidt, and Planning Commissioner Mahecha to the meeting.

STUDY SESSION ITEM:
1. STUDY SESSION REGARDING SENATE BILL 1439 (SB 1439)
Assistant City Attorney Keith F. Collins conducted the presentation.
Open dialogue discussion took place with responses provided by Assistant City Attorney Collins.

Councilmember Medrano thanked Assistant City Attorney Collins for the presentation, and commented on SB 1439 applying only to local legislative bodies. He made a motion that staff agendize for a future City Council Meeting a resolution that reflects City Council’s position on Senate Bill 1439 (SB 1439), and advocacy at the League of California Cities conferences that higher-level governing bodies be required to abide by the same accountability. Seconded by Councilmember Gomez.
Moved by Councilmember Gomez, seconded by Councilmember Medrano, and CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY (5 -0) THAT CITY COUNCIL RECEIVE AND FILE THE SENATE BILL 1439 (SB 1439) PRESENTATION CONDUCTED BY ASSISTANT CITY ATTORNEY KEITH F. COLLINS.
Said motion CARRIED by the following vote:

Councilmember Gomez, Councilmember Medrano, Councilmember Surich NOES: NONE

ADJOURNMENT: Mayor Nigsarian adjourned the meeting at 5:26 p.m. to Monday, May 6, 2024, at 5:30 p.m. in the City Council Closed Session Room 112C, 100 East La Habra Boulevard, followed by the Regular Meeting at 6:30 p.m. in the City Council Chamber.
