Bonnie Baranoff
Dear Honorable Mayor, City Councilmembers, Chief Sweeney, and City Staff --
Thank you for sharing the April – June 2022 Quarterly HOME Program report. It's encouraging to see continual service and housing progress for our unhoused neighbors. Matthew and Earl continue to do a great job and are valued employees.
With the HOME Program's success, I look forward to seeing how La Mesa continues to expand the City's ability to connect homeless residents to transitional and permanent housing opportunities, an initiative in the 2021-2026 Homeless Action Plan. As you may recall, La Mesa City Council approved the MOU on May 10, 2022. The MOU brings together all four East County cities and the County to collaboratively address shared emergency and longer-term housing solutions in the East Region.
Thank you.
Captain Nicholass provided a PowerPoint presentation on the HOME Program, highlighting the HOME team, hours, and implementation, the number of homeless individuals in La Mesa in 2020 and 2022, the number of unsheltered in La Mesa in 2020 and 2022, the 2022 second quarter highlights, the collaboration efforts, the progressive engagement model of the HOME Program, and the HOME Program contact information.
Bonnie Baranoff submitted a comment regarding the HOME Program's success and expanding the City's ability to connect homeless residents to transitional and permanent housing opportunities.
Following Council questions and comments, no action was taken.
