Public Comments
Vicki Morgan
Proposed La Mesa Battery Storage Facility. I came to the council meeting in February whereas, you took this off the meeting agenda that night. I now see again it is back in the works to be built without any public comments or public notice. The neighborhood was never contacted to be able to voice our concerns, so far anyone living around this facility to be build is not ok with this facility. We have a right to know the environmental impact of such facility. There is no such facility built anywhere in San Diego that I know of, if so, what studies long term have been done. This is new technology, so how could you have a study? What happens if there is a leak, what preventions are there? What are the batteries sitting on, how are they stored, how does the weather and sun not damage or impact whatever they are being stored in. This will impact our homes in the area down the road if something did leak. What is the purpose of these batteries, where are the coming from, what are they being used for. How big are they are they used batteries, new batteries what are they made up of? Batteries corrode after time; how will this not happen? What materials are being used to house them? There are so many questions, and as residents that it could impact, we deserve answers and facts given to us to know the long-term situations we might be facing. I think as a city resident we deserve to know, this is not good for a residential neighborhood, would you want this in your own neighborhood? More exploration needs to be done, residents need answers prior to this being allowed to be built.
