He said that pursuant to California Government Code Sections 51177 through 51179, cities receiving a recommended FHSZ map from the OSFM are required to adopt the map by local ordinance. He said adopting the FHSZ map ensures the City remains in compliance with state mandates and enables enforcement of wildfire safety standards, such as applying California Building Code Chapter 7A in Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zones, implementing local defensible space and vegetation clearance requirements, disclosing FHSZ designations during property transactions, and informing insurance provider assessments and policy issuance. He said that Ordinance No. 743 was introduced for first reading and the required public hearing was conducted at the regular City Council meeting of June 24.
