PARKS AND RECREATION MONTH
July 2026
WHEREAS, parks and recreation programs maintain the quality of life, ensure the health of citizens, and contribute to the well-being of the community; WHEREAS, parks and recreation programs promote economic prosperity through increased property values, expansion of the local tax base, tourism, business attraction and retention, and crime reduction;
WHEREAS, the City of La Mirada provides high quality recreation programs, beautiful parks, safe playgrounds, and historic, natural, and cultural resources for the community; WHEREAS, thousands of La Mirada children, adults, and seniors benefit from the wide range of services, facilities, and programs including swimming lessons, day camps, recreation classes, workshops and special events provided by the City of La Mirada; and WHEREAS, the City of La Mirada encourages all residents to take part in recreation activities at local parks and City facilities including the Activity Center, Community Gymnasium, Resource Center, and Splash! La Mirada Regional Aquatics Center.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Ed Eng, Mayor of the City of La Mirada, on behalf of the City Council, do hereby proclaim July 2026 as Parks and Recreation Month in the City of La Mirada.
