RELAY FOR LIFE MONTH
SEPTEMBER 2026
WHEREAS, the American Cancer Society is a nationwide, community-based volunteer health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem through research, education, advocacy, and service;
WHEREAS, Relay for Life is the American Cancer Society's nationwide signature event that blends fundraising, cancer awareness, and prevention activities; WHEREAS, Relay for Life of La Mirada-Whittier is a community event that celebrates survivors, remembers those who have lost their battle with cancer, and unites the community to fight against the disease; and
WHEREAS, this year's Relay for Life event is celebrating its 22nd anniversary and will be held on October 3, 2026 at Splash! La Mirada Regional Aquatics Center from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Anthony A. Otero, Mayor of the City of La Mirada, on behalf of the City Council, do hereby proclaim September 2026 as Relay for Life Month in the City of La Mirada.
