BACKGROUND
It is the City's practice to introduce new full-time employees who have become part of the City team. This gives the City Council an opportunity to officially welcome new staff members and provides the employees with the opportunity to be recognized. This evening, Devonne Leyva and Ivan Sierra will be introduced.
FINDINGS
Devonne Leyva joined the City as a full-time Public Safety Assistant with the Public Safety Department in August 2026. In her current capacity, Devonne provides information regarding City regulations and law enforcement services. She serves a critical role in managing calls for service, monitoring activities on surveillance cameras and Sheriff's radio, and tracking incidents throughout La Mirada. Prior to joining the team, she served as a Police Services Assistant with the Whittier Police Department. Devonne graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice from California State University, Los Angeles.
Ivan Sierra joined the City as a full-time Human Resources Analyst with the Administrative Services Department in August 2026. In this role, Ivan supports the City in the areas of recruitment and selection, training and development, employee relations, classification and compensation, risk management, leave management, benefits administration, and labor relations. Ivan served as a Human Resources Administrative Analyst with California State University Fullerton prior to joining the City. He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration with a Human Resources concentration, and a Master's Degree in Education for Instruction and Technology.
RECOMMENDED ACTION
It is recommended the City Council welcome Devonne Leyva and Ivan Sierra and present them each with a $40 gift certificate to Panera Bread restaurant, a voucher for two tickets to the La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts, and two passes to Splash! La Mirada Regional Aquatics Center.
