FROM: Jeff Boynton, City Manager

SUBJECT: RESOLUTION NO. 26-29 AMENDING THE CITY OF LA MIRADA
CONFLICT OF INTEREST CODE FOR DESIGNATED
PERSONNEL
BACKGROUND
State law requires that public agencies review their Conflict of Interest Code biennially based on changes in personnel and circumstances. The law also requires that any affected person be notified of the proposed changes. The City last amended its Code in
FINDINGS
The Conflict of Interest Code requires designated positions to file a Statement of Economic Interests (Form 700) and disclose certain economic interests based on the disclosure categories assigned to them in an effort to compel public employees to disqualify themselves from making or participating in the making of governmental decisions which may have a material effect on any personal financial interest.
As part of the review and update process, staff evaluated all City positions and determined that due to personnel changes to positions and titles, it is necessary to amend the Code. Based on the scope of work and job responsibilities, certain positions are being added to the designated list. The positions that are being added are:
Assistant Planner, Code Enforcement Officer, House Manager, Human Resources Analyst, and Planning & Building Technician.
The proposed resolution reflects these changes in the Appendix.
RECOMMENDED ACTION
It is recommended the City Council adopt Resolution No. 26-29 amending the City of La Mirada Conflict of Interest Code for designated personnel.
