NOTICE OF CONTINUATION OF PUBLIC HEARING
PURSUANT TO GOVERNMENT CODE SECTIONS 54955 AND 54955.1
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the following hearing held at the regular meeting of the La Puente City Council held on February 24, 2026, at 9:30 a.m., has been continued to a Special City Council Meeting to be held on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at 6:00 p.m., in the Council Chambers of City Hall, located at 15900 East Main Street, La Puente, California, 91744:
A Resolution declaring a fiscal emergency and calling a Special Municipal Election to submit to the resident voters a ballot measure to increase the City’s Transactions and Use Tax, and first reading of a related Ordinance codifying the proposed tax increase, subject to voter approval. The proposed ballot measure would authorize an increase to the City’s existing transactions and use tax from 3/4% (0.75%) to a rate of one percent (1.0%), and would make such other administrative updates requested by the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration. The tax would remain a general tax within the meaning of Article XIII C of the California Constitution (Proposition 218), with proceeds deposited into the City’s general fund and available for any lawful municipal purpose. If approved by the voters at the Special Municipal Election proposed to be held on June 2, 2026, the increased tax rate would be implemented through the ordinance considered at this public hearing.
