JOINT SPECIAL MEETING OF
APRIL 14, 2026

A Joint Special Meeting with the City Council of the City of La Puente and the Board Members of Bassett Unified District School Board was held in the Bassett High School Library, 755 N.
Ardilla Avenue, La Puente, California, on April 14, 2026, at 7:30 p.m.
CALL TO ORDER
Board Member Simental called the meeting to order at 7:31 p.m.
ROLL CALL
City Council Members present: Klinakis, Munoz, Argudo, Mendoza, Quinones.
City Council Members absent: None.
Board Members present: Simental, Gonzalez, Stanzione, Florez, Rivera.
Board Members absent: None.
Staff members present: City Manager Bob Lindsey, Acting City Manager/Director of Community Services Alexander Bauman, City Attorney
Susie Altamirano, Director of Administrative Services Troy Grunklee, Director of Development Services Abraham
Tellez, Chief/Director of Public Safety Jeffrey Buckwell, and Management Assistant Cece Dunlap.
A motion was made by Council Member Argudo, seconded by Mayor Pro Tem Munoz to approve the agenda as presented. The motion carried by the following roll call vote:
AYES: Klinakis, Munoz, Argudo, Mendoza, Quinones
NOES: None

ORAL COMMUNICATIONS
Sam Brown expressed concern regarding the joint special meeting agenda items and flock camera system.
SM.1 OVERVIEW OF ACCOMPLISHMENTS AND FUTURE GOALS
A. Bassett Unified School District and City of La Puente Interim Superintendent Dr. Julie Harrison provided recent updates occurring throughout the Bassett Unified School District.
Acting City Manager/Director of Community Services Bauman spoke regarding in-sports programs and Senior programs provided in the City.
La Puente City Council and Staff thanked Bassett Unified School District for the updates.
SM.2 DISCUSSION AND DIRECTION ON FACILITY USE AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE
CITY OF LA PUENTE AND BASSETT UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT
Discussion ensued regarding the previously approved Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the City of La Puente and Bassett Unified School District in 2023, for the potential use of specific locations such as the tennis courts and the pool, and the potential to create a committee in regard to the discussion item.
City Attorney Altamirano stated the Board would need to discuss the creation of their own ad hoc committee with their Board legal counsel.
SM.3 DISCUSSION AND DIRECTION ON POTENTIAL DEVELOPMENT OF DISTRICT
FACILTIES
Discussion ensued regarding the potential future uses of specific locations, community engagement, community programming, collaboration establishment, Bassett High Schoo ool accessibility, La Puente sports programming, and further potential discussions The La Puente City Council and the Bassett Unified School District Board expressed consensus support for prioritizing pickleball, tennis, and the aquatic center as initial collaborative projects. Direction was provided to City and District staff to meet and develop a preliminary implementation plan for these near-term projects, review the existing agreement, and return for further discussion at a future City Council and School Board meeting.
