MEETING
OCTOBER 6, 2026
La Quinta HS Girls Golf
September 30, 2026
Dear Council Members
Our apologies for being unable to attend this meeting in person. We are competing today in an important league match against Palm Desert. For nearly 30 years, our girls golf team has been unable to beat Palm Desert. Last week we came within 1 shot of accomplishing that. We are a very hard-working, dedicated group of girls who are active in the community. We donate our time as junior coaches at the First Tee and also helped with the CVRM backpack drive.

Your financial support will help us continue competing in out-of-town tournaments and invest in equipment, uniforms, and specialized instruction.

Our goal is to become the #1 Girls Golf Program in the Valley both on and off the Golf Course.

Thank you for your consideration,
La Quinta High School Girls Golf
CITY COUNCIL MEETING - OCTOBER 6, 2026 - WRITTEN PUBLIC COMMENTS BY LA QUINTA HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS GOLF CLUB BUSINESS SESSION ITEM NO. 1 - 1ST ROUND OF COMMUNITY SERVICES GRANTS FOR FISCAL YEAR 2026/27 Good evening, Mayor and members of the La Quinta City Council.

My name is Kimberly McKinney, and I am here on behalf of Mama' s House Ministries to respectfully ask the City of La Quinta to invest $5,000 in some of the most vulnerable women and children in our community.

Mama' s House provides a safe, supportive home for pregnant women and mothers with young children who are facing homelessness, domestic violence, abuse, trafficking, addiction, and other lifechanging crises.

But Mama' s House is much more than a shelter.

When a woman walks through our doors, we begin by asking: What will it take for her and her child to become safe, stable, and ultimately selfsufficient? Each mother receives an individualized Pathway to Success. We address her immediate needs-safe housing, food, clothing, transportation, prenatal and medical care-and then help her address the barriers that led to her crisis.

That can include trauma-informed counseling, parenting education, financial literacy, education and GED support, employment preparation, recovery services, case management, and ultimately assistance securing permanent housing.
