Hi JR. The following is for all members of city council and can also be made as a public comment. My Monday nights are booked for a long time, or else I would come speak in person. Thank you.

To the honorable Ma or and City Council. I am coming to you both as a local resident and as an officer in oury local Masonic Lodge. You may have been aware of the many community service activities our lodge has conducted recentl , including our Food Drive to benefit the military families of 29 Palms, the clothing drives,y blood drives, si ns to welcome back students to our Bonita schools when we reopened, our sponsorship of the g
Bonita USD Math Olympics & Spelling Bee, LA County Homeless Count support, and many others. We have an aim to be a pillar of community service, which is one of the principal tenets of our organization.

Freemasonr had its origination with the stone masons hundreds of years ago. Many of our symbols come from y
this time and each has special meaning to us. We use these tools symbolically, but at times are able to use them in their ori inal uses. One of the most historically known ceremonies of the Masonic craft is the Masonicg Cornerstone Ceremony, which dates back to the earliest days of the craft. In the Masonic cornerstone ceremon , the stone is checked, using ancient tools, to be certain it' s square, plumb ( straight), and level because y
a buildin constructed on a poor foundation isn' t strong. Next, the cornerstone is consecrated with corn or grain,g wine and oil all of which are Masonic symbols of prosperity, health, and peace. Finally, the stone is s mbolicall ta ed in lace with a gavel. Many famous and important buildings have taken part in this, such y y pp p
as our United States Capitol Building.

With our Gold Line coming in and their respective new stations, we see this as an opportunity to support this with a cornerstone ceremon . We have already sought and received approval in San Dimas from their cityy council and details of it have been worked through with the county and the proj ect. As a resident of La Verne, and the fact that our local lodge includes La Verne in its jurisdiction, I would love to see if, as a council, you would ive the a roval for us to bring a cornerstone ceremony for the Gold Line La Verne station. I can give g pp
ct but in short it will consist of our local of cers, as well as those from the Grandmore detalls about the pro e , nduct the ceremon . It would include ou as well. There is typically a plaque of someLodge of California to co y Y i

rt that ma list the names of the elected officials and officers, as well as a hollowed out portion of the so y
cornerstone that ma contain something. I am happy tQ answer any clarifying questions about it, as I am sure y
re man but the first ste is to ain a proval from the city council. I hope this may be placed on a future there a y, p g p
a enda for a vote. Thank you for listening to this request for our community.g Greg Palatto
