3. Wilderness Area Management PrincipalPlannerBowcockreportedon theWildernessArea ManagementPlan Plan Study Session summarizing completed steps, current status, and timeline to finalize the Wilderness Area Management Plan, along with a power point presentation.
Mayor Hepburn called for public comment on this matter.
There were public comments. ( To hear what was said during public comment, pleasevisittheCity's websiteto viewthearchivedCouncilmeeting.) After discussion by the City Council, it was agreed to move forward with the Planning Commission' s recommendations, as follows:
Phase 1 - consists of maintenance, security, fuel modification, planting, and protecting the wilderness area.
Phase 2 - includes the development of the loop trail and the increase of public access to the area. Conditionswere also addedthat if there is ever a desirefor Phase 2 to move forward, an update to the Environmental Impact Report EIR as necessary), a public workshop, andCityCouncilapprovalwouldbe requiredpriorto implementationto ensurethatPhase2 willonlymoveforward withpropernotificationtotheresidentsandultimatelya voteoftheCity Council.
