Council Member Johnson asked if there was a standard size caliber for these guns, so partners could potentially share ammunition.

Lt. Leeper clarified sharing of ammunition is not an opportunity that normally arises during shooting situations.

Lt. Leeper also stated this type of program is a huge morale boost for the officers, this tells them that the Council supports them by agreeing to the right equipment.

Mayor Hepburn called for public comment. Comments were received from the following:

Danita Beauchamp, asked about the loaner program liability and how that could factor in if a potential worker's comp situation arises, and mentioned the weapons swat carries.

Mayor Hepburn called Lt. Leeper forward to answer the question regarding liability.

Due to the standards set, for shooting protocols, and firearms training and with the certification of the weapon by the armor, there is no liability, unless they go outside of those set parameters.

City Attorney Hall Barlow agreed liability does not change under this program, and clarified there was no additional workmen's compensation liability associated with this program.
