Thank you for this update. I am very supportive of this amendment to the Downtown Specific Plan. I am unable to attend this Council meeting because we have guests for dinner that night. But I wanted to make my support for this amendment (and for other efforts to build affordable housing in Laguna Beach) visible.

The Laguna Beach City Council will be holding a public hearing on Tuesday, October 28th to receive a staff presentation regarding the scope of the Downtown Specific Plan Phase Il update. The focus of the Phase Il update is to promote new housing opportunities.
Proposed Project:
An amendment to the Downtown Specific Plan to help facilitate the creation of new housing units. This update implements a program in the City's Housing Element. Key Phase Il updates include the following: (1) changes to building height restrictions; (2) changes to the maximum allowed residential density; (3) allowances to merge lots in certain Downtown areas for affordable housing projects and market-rate projects that include a percentage of affordable units; (4) updates to the Urban Design Guidelines; and (5) changes to the residential parking requirements.
