Subject: City Council Agenda Item 18 - Adoption of an Official City Flag Regarding City Council Agenda Item 18, Adoption of an Official City Flag, I support recommendations 2 and 3.

While a city flag is an idea worth considering, and I appreciate the work the resident, Chad Cooper, has put into getting the ball rolling, I do have three comments:

1. Let's try harder to find the 1980's flag mentioned in the staff report, or at least a picture of it, or a description of it, so we can see what an earlier City Council found appropriate.

2. Design of a city flag could be a prime opportunity to challenge our artistic community to come up with a great design.

3. Unfortunately, regarding the proposed design, someone described it as looking like a face throwing up flowers. It's got ears, eyes, nose, and open mouth. Now, I can't unsee that.

Attached is an image of the previous City flag, purported to be the "official" flag that was lost by the County. I could find no official action in the minutes of adoption of the "winner's" flag; just mention that the winner would be revealed at the 50th Anniversary celebration (see attached).

Best,
I malaze

13. TEMPLE TERRACE PARKING PROBLEMS
Note: this item was removed for discussion. The City Council considered recommendations from the Traffic Complaint Committee on April 6th regarding parking and congestion problems in the area of the Catholic church on Temple Terrace. Staff has met with a representative of the church concerning the problem and we would now recommend, prior to any additional restrictions implemented in the area, that the Police Department perform a survey on the next two Sundays to determine the extent of the problem at this The Municipal Services Department recently painted angle stalls on Temple Terrace to define legal
and we feel this may have improved the situation.

The Police Department survey would give the Council additional information regarding the impact of recent staff actions.

Motioned by Vice Mayor Bellerue, seconded by Councilman McDowell and carried unanimously to request Police Department perform survey on Temple Terrace to determine whether parking stalls have im- proved situation.
