We personally delivered the above-mentioned Petition, which includes a prima facie review of 354 petitions containing 2,471 signatures, filed in our office on October 27, 2025. The signatures were delivered to the City Clerk's office by Mike Morris, who was listed on the initiative as a proponent.
The petition was circulated starting May 28,2025, and the last date of circulation should be October 27,2025.
Laguna Beach had 18,179 registered voters as of the reported registration to the Secretary of State when the petition was filed (October 20, 2025). 10% of 18,179 is 1,818 valid signatures. Per EC 9115, please perform a random verification of the signatures.
The Elections Code requires that the signatures be verified within 30 days from October 27, 2025, not including weekends and holidays; therefore, the signatures need to be verified no later than Thursday, December 11, 2025. Please call our office (949-497-0705) once the required number of signatures is verified, and email a copy of the verification letter to [email protected]. A certified copy is also requested.
