Re: Appeal of DRB Approval re 30801 Driftwood Drive – Scheduling Request Current Hearing Date - January 27, 2026
Dear Mayor Orgill, Councilmembers, and City Clerk McKay:
The above matter is scheduled for hearing on January 27, 2026. According to the staff report, staff intends to request a continuance to February 24, 2026, a date on which both my client and I are unavailable.
I am writing to respectfully request the professional courtesy of selecting an alternative continuance date. The appellant will be out of town on February 24, and I will likewise be traveling. My trip was booked in August 2025 so that I could support my son, a Laguna Beach High School graduate and diving record-holder, who will be competing in the Ivy League Championships that week. I have already provided my flight and hotel confirmations to the City Clerk and to counsel for the applicant. I also asked the applicant to agree to a different date, but they declined to do so.

2 Given these circumstances, I am now requesting that the City Council consider a continuance to a date other than February 24, 2026. My client and my family would be sincerely grateful for this courtesy.
